    1. Hi! Unfortunately, I don’t have 2017 and 2018 worked solutions at the moment.
I’m currently focusing on generating solutions for the 2020 Prelims papers.
But I will be working on past years papers (e.g. 2017 and 2018) after this period!

  1. Hi! When are you going to put in Temasek Primary math 2020 solutions? My niece is going for PSLE soon and we have a few questions in the paper!

    1. Hi! Sorry for the delay. It does take some time to do the solutions and post online.
How about you let me know which questions your niece needs help in? I could prioritize these questions and publish them by the end of today!

  2. Hi! Thank you for the quick reply! I really appreciate it and me niece says she understands the working so thank you from saving me from long arduous hour of explaining the answers to her! We are doing nan Hua soon so I would really like it if you could post the answers soon! Thank you! 😀

  3. Hi, any update for the solutions of 2020 SA2 papers. I would like to have the solutions for Nanyang, and Raffles Girls

  4. Hi, this has really helped me to clarify some questions I had when doing the paper. My PSLE is tomorrow and this has thought me how to tackle the sums much more easily as the answer sheet doesn’t really ‘explain’ the sum. I have even recommended this to my friends! Thank you for taking the time and effort to do this! 🙂

    1. Hi! Thanks for your comments and recommendations to your friends =) the purpose of this website is to provide the help that you mentioned!

      Good luck for your PSLE!

  5. Hi. I love your setup! Thanks for your solutions! May I ask what software you use to notate on the screen and record the video?

  6. Hello! Could I trouble you to post 2020 prelims Catholic High Paper 2, or the whole paper solutions if you have time? Thank you so much!

    1. Hi Kaitlin! I have not done this paper before. I would need some time to get a hold of this paper and do up the solutions.

I should be able to finish by this weekend!

      1. Alright! I have sent you 2 questions that I do need help with though. One is from Nanyang SA1 2020 and the other is one from the Catholic High paper I mentioned earlier. Thank you for your quick reply :)!

  7. Hi , could you teach me how to do this qns?
    6÷2(1+2)
some people say 6/6= 1 (new model calculator also 1)
but some people say follow the rule left to right 3*3 =1 (old model calculator is 9)
    pls advise, thank you.

    1. Hi Gertoh!

      Thanks for this question.

I did a search and found this video to be quite educational on why people would confuse getting 1 instead of 9.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URcUvFIUIhQ

In short, it should be 9.

The long version goes like this…

      The order of operations follow:
      1. Parentheses/Brackets
      2. Exponents/Orders
      3. Multiplication-Division
      4. Addition-Subtraction
(If same precedence, left to right)

      Therefore…

      Step 0: 6÷2(1+2) —> Brackets
      Step 1: 6÷2(3) = 6÷2×3 –> Multiplication-Division (left to right)
      Step 2: 3×3 –> Multiplication-Division (left to right)
      Step 3: 9

Step 1 is where people differs as they feel it’s 6 ÷ (2×3).
As the person in the Youtube video (link above) explained, there is some historic background to how people in the past used to see “÷” as Entire Left Hand Side ÷ Entire Right Hand Side.

However, in today’s world, conventionally, we see brackets as just multiplication. Therefore, we still need to do multiplication/division from left to right.

Ultimately, the question should also be set in a way that is less ambiguous.
And hopefully, it won’t come out for students in this way.

  8. Hi, im doing Ai Tong 2020 Prelim Paper but i can only see 2019’s. When can u upload the 2020 one? Thanks.

    1. Hi! Previously I didnt have Ai Tong 2020 prelims paper. It would take a few days for me to do up the solutions and upload. Should be up by this Fri night!

      1. Hi! Thanks so much for the quick reply

Yes, I thought there was an issue with the question as there was no mention that ‘point A’ (as indicated in your soln) is the midpoint.

Even with the assumption, is the question flawed?
I was thinking that the 2 triangles inside are congruent. Doubt it is possible that both the right-angle triangles (which have side of 4cm, share the same hypotenuse and both have right angle) to have the 3rd side different (one being 8cm and the other 6cm).
Hope you could advise, thanks in advance!

        1. Hi,

As you suspected, the question is fundamentally flawed! Good catch!
I’m not too sure whether P6 students could understand the concept of congruent triangles, but your point is valid.

To be doubly sure, I cut out pieces of paper for the square (8 cm x 8 cm) and the rectangle (8 cm x 10 cm).
If the rectangle and the square meets at the top right hand corner of the square with 4 cm left, the intersection point on the left would never be able to produce the pair of lines of equal length as per the question.

Hence, the realistic aspect of the question is flawed, and therefore could only follow these flawed aspects to solve the question.

          Hope my explanation is understandable.

    1. Hi, unfortunately, I don’t have P6 SA2 Prelims Rulang Pri School Maths paper. If possible, you could email me the paper if you have and I would upload the solutions when I’m done =)

  9. Pls help with this Q! Thanks!
ACS CA1 Y2018 Q24: Melissa and Nurul had a total pf 106 beads. Melissa used 3 times as many beads as Nurul to make some bracelets. The number of beads Nuril left was 12 more than what she had used. She had twice as many beads left as compared to Melissa.
    a) how many beads did Nurul use?
    b) how many beads did Melissa have at first?

      1. Hi, yes I tried using guess and check but all the whole number guesses didn’t work.

Was looking at the solution attached to the back pages of the exam paper:
        150cm^2 = 10 square
        1 square = 15cm^2
        2square = 15 x 2 = 30cm^2

I worked out the area based on the x and y values you worked out. Somehow the area is also 30cm^2. But I can’t seem to understand the basis of the working that i copied on top for your reference. Any clue?

        Thanks in advance!

        1. Hi!

As mentioned, it’s a bad question that can’t be solved at the Primary 6 level.

The solution assumes that the ratio of the big square to the small square is 4 : 1. But this assumption can’t be proven. Therefore, the solution given at the back of the paper is wrong.

          The area of ABCD using my solution is 34.5cm,not 30cm (AB = 6 – √(3/2), AD = 6 + √(3/2)).

          Hope this clarifies!

      1. If A = 2 and B = 8, then C will be 2 x 8 = 16. 16 only has 5 factors (1,2,4,8 and 16). I don’t really understand your working. Hope you could clarify. Thank you!

        1. Hi! You’re right!

Here’s the revised solution on my Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/sgprimaths/posts/132966202402545).

Sorry for the wrong solution previously.

Basically, to have the least number of factors, we let the factors of:
          – A: 1, a.
          – B: 1, a, a*a, a*a*a

When the factors of B are just multiplication of “a”, then eventually C will have the least factors are opposed to B having 4 factors of 1, a, b, c.

          Therefore,

          – C: 1, a, a*a, a*a*a, a*a*a*a ==> 5 factors at least

  10. Came across your website when searching for solution for my boy taking his PSLE this year. Fantastic website and great work! Thank you for tasking the time and effort to put up the solutions with equation and working… it really helps my boy to understand the process in getting the correct answer.

    1. Thanks for your feedback! The main aim of this website is to help students like your boy prepare for their exams.

Stay tuned for more solutions to come!

In the mean time, feel free to email me for any questions. =)

  11. Thank you for your time, these are awesome resources. My boy is p6 next year. Just a humble suggestion: would you consider showing video solutions (instead of paper solution) for Paper 2, in future? This will be greatly helpful. Thank you :))

    1. Thank you. A suggestion- may be it will be very helpful when you do the solution, write the applied concept (e.g. Concept: Repeated Identity ) at the corner / End of the question, to help the student identify this kind of question is using what concept/approach to answer it within the limited time of exam. What do you think?

      1. Hi! That would definitely be useful. At the moment, I’m not too familiar with the list of concepts. But I could work towards familiarising myself with it so I could put it in the solutions.

        Thanks for this suggestion!

    1. Hi pial! Thanks for your question =) I’m quite passionate about answering primary school maths questions =) and I feel this would be helpful for students and parents preparing for exams!

  12. Hi its me again! i was wondering when u do next psle papers how abt u make all the questions on the front first with no answer and then the back with the questions with answers because its a bit annoying that i have to cover it up? ok thank u

  13. Hi,
Thanks a lot for sharing this, your solutions have been a huge help, any plan to work on P6 prelim 2023 paper?

    1. Hi! You’re welcome! Glad to know it’s helpful =)

Doing up the 2023 solutions is a stretch for me now given my situation.

But I will be happy to provide solutions to specific questions!
